I have never done the breakfast at this location, but would probably never pick it over the other two breakfasts dining options mentioned below, mostly due to location. The only reason this one would make sense to me is if I was staying AT the Disneyland Hotel. If you are staying on Harbor Blvd, you are far better doing the Storyteller's Breakfast at the Grand Californian or Breakfast with Minnie and Friends at the Plaza Inn.
I think this is a great option for an arrival day activity where you don't have park tickets for the afternoon/evening, but want to be able to sort of get your vacation going!
When you enter for your reservation, they have a cute photo op (similar to Minnie & Friends breakfast) where you can meet Goofy in his "kitchen" and get a few pics. If you have Genie+ this is included as part of your Photopass download options. I'm not sure if they charge you for the photo without Genie+...they used to, but I feel like I heard that had changed...so don't quote me!
Breakfast options include your standard buffet, similar to what you will get at the other character breakfast options we review in our Storytellers Cafe and Breakfast with Minnie and Friends sections of the site. Eggs, bacon, mickey waffles, muffins, yogurt, cereal, those types of things.
Dinner options include a meat carving area, lots of "home cooking" style foods like ribs, mashed potatoes, soups...I've seen tacos being served, there is usually macaroni and cheese, pizza in a few varieties (try the peanut butter pizza--it's my favorite thing at Goofy's Kitchen), chicken nuggets, etc. Then there is also a fruit bar, a dessert bar, and an area with serve-yourself soft serve ice cream, similar to what you'd have at a Chuck-a-Rama, Golden Corral, or other homestyle buffets.
A Tip: If you are wanting to have the best chance of enjoying the food offerings here, I highly recommend scheduling your reservation for the first slot available, right as the restaurant opens up for dinner service. The food is much better at the beginning of the night when everything is nice and fresh, and the restaurant and buffet area are less crowded. I really do love the character interactions here, and I like that I can go at dinnertime when we are wanting a break from the parks and don't have to feel pressure to eat quickly because we're are missing park time, like I sometimes feel when we do breakfasts.
NOTE: If you have a dining reservation and you are in the parks, please allot yourself about a half an hour to get from wherever you are in the parks to Goofy's Kitchen. You have to exit the parks, walk through the Esplanade, through all of Downtown Disney, and onto Disneyland Hotel property. We've caught ourselves having to really speedwalk more than once to make it to our dinner reservations--so don't be us. LOL. There is stroller parking directly in front of the restaurant, so take your stroller all the way to the entrance before you unload kids--don't forget baby wipes for sticky fingers and reusable straws because you'll want both once inside.
Also, please note if you are re-entering Disney property after you eat, you have to go BACK through the Downtown Disney security screenings.
