The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a little salon in Fantasyland that offers "Magical Makeovers" with Fairy Godmothers in Training to kids ages 3-12 years old. It is definitely a "splurge" experience, like doing character dining or similar, so if it's something you are interested in doing, maybe plan to budget it into your trip ahead of time.

Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance, just like dining reservations. Any "no show" reservation that isn't cancelled 24 hours beforehand will be charged a $10 fee per person on the reservation.

Things to Note:

Theme park admission IS required for this service, as is a reservation to Disneyland Park on the day of your service. Salon services begin first thing in the morning, and there are reservations available for booking up until around 6pm at night, so if California Adventure Park is your starting park on the day of your reservation, just plan to book an afternoon slot (after 11AM), and make sure you have a Park Hopper ticket.

My personal recommendation is to do it on a Disneyland Park day and get a slot as early in the morning as you can. This is both because that way your kids can enjoy their makeovers and feel fancy all day in the parks, and also because the boutique times can get a bit backed up and the further in the day it gets, the more likely you'll end up waiting past your reservation time to get into your appointment.

Depending on which package you select, makeovers can take anywhere from 30 minutes up to an hour or so. When we did it with our daughters, we chose the most basic package, which was hair and nails, some glitter in their hair, makeup and little gems for their cheeks, a sash, etc. To my understanding, all of the "makeover" portions are similar no matter which package you select, but more expensive packages include a portrait session and a fancier dress, more accessories, etc.

If you'd like details on what each package includes, please see the link above. For reference, here is a basic price breakdown:

Basic Packages:

-Carriage Package: $99.95 plus tax

-Courtyard Package: $149.95 plus tax

-Castle Package $199.95 plus tax

-Deluxe Package $229.95 plus tax

Alternative packages:

-The Princess Signature Dress Collection $450.00 plus tax

-The Disney Frozen Crown Package $119.95 plus tax

-The Disney Frozen Package $179.95 plus tax

Options for "Knights in Training:"

-The Knight Package $19.95 (hairstyling, sword and shield)

-The Deluxe Knight Package $79.95 (hairstyling, Knight costume, "Mighty Sword and Shield"

NOTE: Either boys or girls between the ages of 3-12 are able to do any package they'd like, the BBB will not deny a boy from getting a Princess package or a girl from getting a Knight package.

Read below for my opinions and experience with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique:

So we took our girls, ages 4 and 8 at the time, just before the shutdown--like literally days before the parks closed. So I would assume this is about as "up to date" a review as you can get at the moment. . We made our reservations for around 9-9:30am if I remember right, so we could rope drop a few rides, grab some breakfast and then head over to the boutique. We didn't tell our girls about it beforehand, and surprised them when we got the boutique, which was fun.

I had secretly ordered fancy dresses before we left on our trip so that I could avoid the additional cost of the REALLY pricey (but beautiful) dresses in the shop. I think I paid about $20-30 for each of their dresses, and then paid for the most basic "Carriage" package. When we went, annual pass discounts DID apply, but I don't know if that will be the case when they reopen, especially with annual pass information being so up in the air right now.

When we arrived, we told them which package we wanted (you select which one at the register) and paid and then their personal "Fairy Godmothers in Training" greeted them, walked them into the salon portion of the boutique where we were able to change their clothes into their fancy dresses and then get them situated in their chairs for the makeovers.

I'm not gonna lie...it is freaking magical. Like...I wish my little girls weren't already so grown up so I could do it again! Even my little Nightmare Before Christmas obsessed daughter turned into a fancy princess who adored every second of the experience and the attention she got from cast members and other park guests the rest of the day in her twirly dress with her Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique sash.

With some of the makeover levels, you get to be walked directly into the Royal Hall and meet all the princesses. Our package didn't include that "VIP" walk up version, but the queue wasn't too long, maybe 20 minutes or so, and we waited to go see them all right after their makeovers. They treated them so wonderfully.

This is an experience I would 110% pay for again if the opportunity made sense. My girls still talk about it years later.

TIP: Even on the days following your Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique visit, fix their hair back up if you'd like, and let them wear their sashes in the park over other dresses or outfits. The cast members and characters really pay special attention to kids wearing those sashes and it helps make them feel so special. It's pretty magical.

One last tip: If the BBB is just really out of your budget, you can totally do a "makeover" with your kids in the hotel before you leave for the day and basically replicate this entire experience. You can even go over to the BBB when you are in the park and ask to be "fairy dusted" and a Fairy Godmother in Training will come outside the door (because it's messy!) and sprinkle "fairy dust" aka glitter all over them. It's pretty fun! CLICK HERE to see a reel we made awhile back about the free fairy dusting at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
