We got to experience the World of Color Dessert Party in April 2022 and January 2023 with our friends at Get Away Today. Here is a rundown of what it's all about, and you can decide for yourself if it's right for you!

What is it?

The World of Color Dessert Party is an exclusive reservation you book before your trip. You get to sit at your own table of four to watch the World Of Color show at California Adventure. You also get a pre-made plate of treats, crackers, cheese, fruit, and two alcoholic or specialty drinks of your choice and unlimited soda and water.

This experience becomes available with other dining reservations 60 days out from travel. Reservations go fast so make sure to be on top of it if it's important to you. You can find reservation times in the Disneyland App or by Googling "World of Color Dessert Party" and heading straight to the Disneyland website. (See attached video for a step by step tutorial on how to do this.)

You will be assigned the first or second show depending on which reservation time you select. You must have a reservation for DCA or a Park Hopper Ticket--they will not let you in to the park just because you have a dining reservation. This dessert party is one of the few dining experiences you pay for up front. If you cancel (24 hours or more in advance) they will refund you, but they take payment upon reservation.

What is the Cost?

The dessert party is $89 per guest ages 3 and older. Children 2 and younger may attend for free if they sit on the lap of a paying adult.

How do I check in?

Check in is in front of the Eureka Water Wheel near the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Check in time is 60 minutes before showtime for either show--we recommend being there at the front of the check in line so you have the best pick of table options. There are lower chairs, and bar height chairs. We chose the bar height and thought they were comfortable, but if you have little kids, are shorter and don't like your legs to dangle, or like a little more wiggle room, choose a lower chair.

Once you select your table, you will then receive a wrist band with a return time and instructions on when/where to return. When it is time, you can go to the water front to check in for your Party.

When you arrive at the seating area, you will be escorted to your table and your server will get your drinks ordered and bring your desserts. TIP: Make sure to order ANY amount of drinks you think you might need for the entirety of the show (get a soda, a water, a specialty drink, etc all at once) because the servers won't come back around once the show begins. Shortly after ordering, World of Color will start and you get to enjoy the program with treats, drinks, and a chair which is so welcome by the end of a long Disney day!

What did we think? Is it “worth it?"

We thought it was a great experience and were so thrilled to have the chance to be hosted by Get Away Today and try it out! Cost- wise its definitely a splurge and a luxury, so in general we'd probably recommend it for a girls trip, couples trip, etc, over a family trip, because buying tickets for a whole family can add up quickly. But if it's in your budget, go for it! The kids will love it. (NOTE: Kids also receive a special glow in the dark sipper at this event with their ticket.)

Pro Tip: This location gets chilly at night, there is often a breeze plus the misty water is falling on you from World Of Color. If at all possible, pack an extra blanket or jacket to stay warm.
