Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year is celebrated every January-February at Disneyland. Dates for 2024 are January 23rd-February 18th. You can expect a multicultural celebration with food offerings, unique character meet and greets, and fun festivities to help guests ring in the new year right!
Highlights of this event each year include:
Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession—This is a cavalcade-style procession with dancing, lively music, a float with Mulan and Mushu, an impressive chinese dragon puppet and more. This procession happens several times a day during Lunar New Year. Check the daily schedule for showtimes. This procession starts in Hollywood Land and ends at Pixar Pier.
Hurry Home—Lunar New Year Celebration—This is a short 6 minute pre-show before World of Color each night during Lunar New Year. It features Mulan and friends and focuses on a message of family and friendship.
Kids Crafts and Activities—There are usually craft offerings down by Paradise Garden bandstand during Lunar New Year.
Lucky Wishes Wall—This yearly tradition gives guests the opportunity to write down a wish or a hope for the coming season.
Disney characters dressed in colorful Lunar New Year outfits. Last year there were special appearances by Oswald and Ortencia, and usually you’ll see Mickey and Minnie in festive Lunar New Year outfits as well.
Seasonal Lunar New Year merchandise offerings
Seasonal Dining options at the Lunar New Year Marketplaces—The California food booths shine again with new offerings for 2024.
Booths: Bamboo Blessings, Wrapped With Love, Lucky 8 Lantern, Prosperity Bao and Buns, Red Dragon Spice Traders, and Longevity Noodle Co. have announced their menus for the 2024 season. For a the full Lunar New Year foodie guide, visit the Disney Parks blog here.
Sip and Savor Passes: This year, there will be 6 tabs on each sip and savor pass to be redeemed on any food or non-alcoholic beverage at the booths. A price announcement has not come yet, but typically they run around $7-$7.50 per item. (Probably around $45, Magic Key’s do get a discount on these passes.) Be sure to only use your tabs on food items that cost at least as much as your pass on their own or you will not be saving money by buying a pass, you may actually spend more.
